Advisory
29th October 2014

The Office of the Financial Intelligence Unit wishes to advise on a disturbing trend that has developed that can negatively affect the financial sector and result in substantial financial loss to individuals.

Several persons with internet banking capabilities are been contacted by persons purporting to be agents of Yahoo and Google suggesting service upgrade, requesting account passwords and personal information. Once this type of information is given fraudulent emails are sent to the various institutions requesting withdrawals and wire transfer to foreign jurisdictions.

Be reminded that no personal banking information should be given out on the telephone or via the internet.

All enquiries must be directed to your local banking representative and may even require a face to face meeting with your financial institution.
